Thanks for the article. While I do agree that nothing is better something in regards to home security. Unfortunately, however, I have had bad experiences with “over-the-counter” burglar alarms. My wife and I installed an alarm that we purchased from our local Home Depot and outfitted our bedroom window with gadget. We chose this location because our fire escape is accessible to anyone from the ground. Make a long story short, we did experience a break-in and the intruder entered our residence from that very window. When we returned home to find our apartment in ruin, we also found the small device in pieces on the floor. No neighbors had heard anything as well. Most alarm systems that you can purchase and install yourself and not really worth the trouble. Most can be ripped off, broken or tampered with easily. Just my opinion, but thank you for the interesting article!
I agree with this article. You should not give up quality for a lower price. I personally recommend honeywell equipment. You can find more about them by searching honeywell security.
I bought one of the DIY alarm systems at my local DIY store. My god it was difficult to fit, took me two weeks to get it working correctly. Well hopefully it will deter thief’s anyway.
As someone who deals with home alarms every day, you are correct. Thanks for taking the time to write this up and share, it is important for people to be aware of these things.

Great article. I love making DIY products, might gonna do this project over the weekend. BOOKMARKED!
I have got to agree, they don’t make it easy to program these, im lucky i am in the security industry but theres never a day that go’s by without me referring to an installation manual, the manufacturers really need to get to grips and make the programming
I have also bought a DIY burglar alram from sam’s club. It included cameras that streamed its video 24/7 online. That took three weeks to hook up right. Overall, it did save me money, but the hell involved in rigging those cameras would make me hire a security professional next time.
Hi, just had to comment after reading your post. Great job and I shall book-mark your site.
I concur with CCTV London. They make these things more complex than they need to be. Possibly to stop peope doing DIY jobs! LOL
A home security system is a great idea. You only have to be more secure than your neighbors, most home robberies are crimes of opportunity.
