PostHeaderIcon And on the Seventh Day: A Moving Week Checklist

The last week before you move will be spent taking care of final details such as cleaning and last-minute packing. If you haven’t already done so, contact your utility companies and other essential service providers to give them your new contact information.

Many of the things left to be packed are things that you use on a daily basis. They can’t be packed yet, but you should keep them limited to as few locations as possible, to avoid overlooking anything when it’s time to go.

Hopefully by now you’ve got at least one or two empty rooms. These should be thoroughly cleaned and then sealed off. Don’t leave them open or you may have to clean them again.

Turn on all of your appliances to see that they’re in proper working condition; do this now so you can make any required repairs in time for your move. Defrost your freezer if it needs it, and start using up perishable food items.

Now is a good time to start making a list of any items you’ll need when you move to your new house. Keep a notebook handy to jot things down in as you use them; sometimes it’s easy to overlook everyday items because we’re so used to having them there.
